Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has taken a dig at pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi, saying if the “ball isn’t swinging, he becomes zero”.
He also slammed the 24-year-old for having no other deliveries other than the yorker.
Afridi has long been the leader of the pace attack in all three formats and had a solid campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup, picking up five wickets in four games at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
Despite this, Salman noted that he should work on his variations and start improving his bowling in conditions where the ball doesn’t swing.
“Shaheen doesn’t seem to have anything other than yorkers. If his ball isn’t swinging, he becomes zero,” he said on Cricket Baithak’s YouTube channel as quoted by NDTV.
Pakistan began the T20 World Cup with successive losses to the United States of America and India before fighting back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage games, it was not enough to earn the men in green a spot in the Super Eights.
