Legendary India batsman Sunil Gavaskar said Pakistan captain Babar Azam is a “world-class player” because he “makes batting look ridiculously easy”.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent batsman in the last few years and Gavaskar admitted that he loves watching the 29-year-old score runs.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Azam was Pakistan’s highest run-scorer with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
“Babar Azam is a world-class player. He is a delight to watch. He makes batting look ridiculously easy and it’s wonderful to watch him score runs,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with successive losses to the United States of America and India before fighting back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning those two games, it was not enough to earn them a place in the Super Eights.
