Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan admitted it is a negative sign for himself and the team that he has “not been taking wickets”.
Shadab last dismissed a batsman during Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024.
Most recently, the 25-year-old from Mianwali featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and went wicketless in four games. To make matters worse, he didn’t even bowl in Pakistan’s matches against India and Canada.
As the first-choice spinner in the team, Shadab conceded that he has to do better and hopes his fortunes will take a turn for the better in the near future.
“I have not been taking wickets, and it’s a negative sign for my team. I admit it,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
However, those two victories went in vain as the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
