Babar Azam: “The middle order needs to step up”

Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam has taken aim at the team’s middle order batsmen, saying they have to “step up”.
The middle order has been one of Pakistan’s major weaknesses for quite some time, with the men in green having tried many different cricketers to bring some stability.
Despite trialling numerous options, they haven’t found the answer yet. Azam knows that whichever batsmen are playing in the middle order need to be able to score runs consistently in the event that the top order fails to fire.
“The middle order needs to step up,” the 29-year-old was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and amassed 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost their first two games against the United States of America and India before fighting back to beat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage matches, Pakistan failed to advance to the Super Eights.
