Former Pakistan head coach and team director Mickey Arthur has praised left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir, calling him “the ‘Porsche’ of white-ball bowlers”.
Arthur’s comments come after Derbyshire signed Amir for the final six group matches in the Vitality Blast, which is England’s domestic T20 tournament.
Currently, the 32-year-old is representing Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he has taken five wickets in three games at an average of 12.20 and an economy rate of 5.08.
Arthur, who is the Head of Cricket at Derbyshire, admitted that Amir will provide a big boost to the team in the Vitality Blast.
“I’ve often described him as the ‘Porsche’ of white-ball bowlers, he’s a world-class player in this format (T20s) and I’m looking forward to working with him again,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before picking up a seven-wicket win over Canada.
However, they will be eliminated in the group stage of the T20 World Cup, with their final game being against Ireland on June 16 in Lauderhill.
