Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has suggested that Usman Khan be promoted up the order in T20Is and open the batting with Mohammad Rizwan.
Usman has played at numbers three, four and five in his international career thus far, which only consists of nine T20Is.
However, Shehzad reckons it might be time to move the 29-year-old again, only on this occasion, he should look to be aggressive at the top of the order.
“Keeping everything in mind, Rizwan should open alongside Usman Khan. If you have put him in the team, then play him at [this] position,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Usman, who switched allegiance from the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, hasn’t been able to make any major contributions in international cricket thus far.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Karachi-born batsman only managed to muster 20 runs in four games at an average of 6.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
Pakistan lost their first two games against the United States of America and India before triumphing over Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning their last two matches, the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
