South Africa batsman Leus du Plooy has praised Pakistan batsman Shan Masood’s leadership skills after playing under his captaincy for the Karachi Kings in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Masood, who is Pakistan’s Test captain, got traded to the Kings from the Multan Sultans prior to the start of PSL 9 in exchange for left-arm spinner Faisal Akram.
In the 10 matches he played, the 34-year-old amassed 158 runs at an average of 15.80 and a strike-rate of 105.33.
Even though Masood didn’t have the kind of impact he wanted to, Du Plooy admitted that he “enjoyed batting with him.”
“Shan Masood is a great leader and I enjoyed batting with him,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Du Plooy, 29, only played two games for the Kings and scored 36 runs at an average of 18 and a strike-rate of 138.46.
The Kings were unable to make it to the playoffs as they finished in fifth place on the points table after winning four out of the 10 games they played.
Masood was not part of Pakistan’s squad for the recent five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended as a 2-2 draw.
Pakistan are now involved in a three-match T20I series against Ireland and will then play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
