Legendary Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal hopes to see limited overs captain Babar Azam score runs “even better than before.”

Ajmal was glad when the 29-year-old resigned as captain in all three formats in November 2023 as he would be free to completely focus on his batting.

However, with Azam having returned to the leadership role in white-ball cricket, the 46-year-old believes he can still lead by example.

“I hope that you continue to score runs for Pakistan even better than before,” Ajmal said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam recently led Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and amassed 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.

Next up for Pakistan will be a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14.

Following that, they will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
