Quetta Gladiators head coach Shane Watson admitted he was amazed by up-and-coming Pakistan batsman Khawaja Nafay’s “exceptional power and bat speed” during the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Nafay played for the Gladiators in the tournament and was one of the standout youngsters as he showed plenty of promise.
The 22-year-old featured in 10 matches in PSL 9 and made 182 runs, which included a top score of 60 not out, at an average of 22.75 and a strike-rate of 121.33.
“Khawaja Nafay has exceptional power and bat speed,” Watson, a former Australia all-rounder, told Geo News.
The Gladiators had a much better season in PSL 9 as they managed to make it to the playoffs, where they ended up losing to eventual champions Islamabad United by 39 runs in Eliminator 1.
