Mohammad Amir: “If a player is part of the central contract, he also cannot say no to the board”

Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir believes fellow pace bowler Haris Rauf “cannot say no” to playing for the national team if he has signed a central contract.
Amir’s comments come after Rauf’s central contract was terminated following his decision to pull out of the three-match Test series against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024.
While many people felt that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made a hasty and harsh decision, the 31-year-old pointed out that Rauf can’t pick and choose which series he wants to play.
Given the uproar over the entire incident, it should be noted that Rauf has since got his central contract back.
“If a player is part of the central contract, he also cannot say no to the board,” he told Geo News.
Rauf recently played for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took two wickets in four matches at an average of 66 and an economy rate of 9.42.
His campaign came to an early end after he suffered a dislocated shoulder, which will take four to six weeks to heal.
Amir, meanwhile, represented the Quetta Gladiators in PSL 9 and finished with 10 wickets in nine games at an average of 28.60 and an economy rate of 8.41.
