Pakistan pace sensation Aamer Jamal said he doesn’t care about his critics as they always talk behind his back.

He noted that those who constantly criticise him expect him to perform in every game he plays, which is an impossible task.

As a fast-bowling all-rounder, the 27-year-old pointed out his main aim is to have an impact with both the bat and ball so that he can help his team win matches.

“I don’t care about critics who talk behind my back. An all-rounder cannot perform every day. He either performs with the bat or with the ball. My priority is to contribute in winning matches for the team,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Jamal, who burst onto the international cricketing scene with his brilliant performances in the three-match Test series against Australia, recently represented the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In the eight games he played, he took five wickets at an average of 46 and an economy rate of 9.58.

The Mianwali native also made 138 runs, which included a top score of 87, at an average of 34.50 and a strike-rate of 162.35.

The Zalmi managed to make it to the playoffs, but saw their campaign come to an end when they lost to eventual champions Islamabad United in Eliminator 2.

Peshawar Zalmi Squad for PSL 9: Babar Azam (captain), Rovman Powell, Saim Ayub, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Asif Ali, Mohammad Haris, Aamer Jamal, Naveen-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Salman Irshad, Arif Yaqoob, Umair Afridi, Dan Mousley, Haseebullah Khan, Mohammad Zeeshan, Mehran Mumtaz, Luke Wood, Sufiyan Muqeem, Waqar Salamkheil, Arshad Iqbal, Gus Atkinson, Shamar Joseph
