Pakistan batsman Babar Azam said he has been following pace prospect Mohammad Zeeshan’s matches for the Under-19 team.

Azam is excited about the 17-year-old, who has become a viral sensation due to the fact he stands at 6ft 8 in and troubles opposition batsmen when he bowls.

While Zeeshan is still in the early stages of his professional career, Azam acknowledged that the teenager has all the tools necessary to become a star bowler in the future.

“The way he bowled in the Under-19s, I have followed his matches. He has been giving good performances,” the 29-year-old batting maestro said in a press conference.

Zeeshan recently played under Azam’s captaincy for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took one wicket in three matches at an average of 112 and an economy rate of 10.18.

As for Azam himself, he finished as the highest run-scorer in PSL 9 with 569 runs in 11 games, which included a century and five fifties, at an average of 56.90 and a strike-rate of 142.60.
