Former Pakistan team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez has slammed the Lahore Qalandars’ Player Development Program (PDP), questioning which notable players they have produced other than fast bowler Haris Rauf.
He noted that the PDP is “very active”, but is failing to provide Pakistan with any impressive talents who have gone on to represent the country at the international level.
“So far, whatever progress Lahore Qalandars have made within the PDP, there is no doubt that they are very active. But so far, apart from just Haris Rauf, we haven’t seen a product of the PDP that has caught our eye at the international level,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rauf represented the Qalandars in four matches in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) before suffering a dislocated shoulder.
He will now miss the remainder of PSL 9 as it will take him four to six weeks to make a full recovery.
In the four games he played, the 30-year-old took two wickets at an average of 66 and an economy rate of 9.42.
