Pakistan batsman Babar Azam overlooked all his teammates when asked who has the most elegant cover drive as he instead picked Australia’s Steve Smith.
Azam was asked the question during an interaction with fans on X, previously known as Twitter.
Many former and current cricketers have named the 29-year-old as the man with the most beautiful cover drive in international cricket, but instead of naming himself, Azam was diplomatic in his answer and went for Smith.
“Steve Smith,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently battled against Smith when Pakistan played a three-match Test series against Australia, which the men in green lost 3-0.
In that series, the Lahore native wasn’t at his best as he was limited to 126 runs at an average of 21.
He looked a lot better in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand as he amassed 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142.
Azam is now captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has accumulated 330 runs in six matches, which includes a century and two fifties, at an average of 66 and a strike-rate of 150.68.
