Shadab Khan: “We weren’t sure if Ubaid would last till our turn, but we got him”

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has conceded that he had doubts about whether the franchise would be able to draft Pakistan pace sensation Ubaid Shah for the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Ubaid, who is the brother of Pakistan star bowler Naseem Shah, has been garnering a lot of attention lately, especially for his outstanding performances with the Pakistan Under-19 team in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
Given how impressive the 18-year-old is, Shadab admitted he initially thought another PSL team would snap the teenager up.
However, luck was on Islamabad United’s side and the franchise managed to draft Ubaid, which ensured they had the services of him, Naseem, and the third brother, Hunain Shah.
“We weren’t sure if Ubaid would last till our turn, but we got him,” Shadab was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
In PSL 9, Ubaid has gone wicketless in the two matches he has played.
As for Shadab, he has claimed six wickets in five games at an average of 21.50 and an economy rate of 6.78.
The 25-year-old has also amassed 103 runs, which includes a top score of 74 not out, at an average of 34.33 and a strike-rate of 141.09.
