South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has lauded Pakistan batsman Babar Azam, saying he is a “special player” who keeps performing at the highest level.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats for the last few years.
Shamsi noted that what sets the 29-year-old apart from other good batsmen is his ability to excel outside of Pakistan.
“He’s a special player. He performs all around the world at the highest stage,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam is currently captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has scored 330 runs in five matches, which includes a century and two fifties, at an average of 82.50 and a strike-rate of 151.37.
As for Shamsi, he has taken three wickets in four games for the Karachi Kings at an average of 52.33 and an economy rate of 10.46.
