Pakistan seamer Ihsanullah admitted he was “disturbed” that he had to miss the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup due to an elbow injury that required surgery.
The 21-year-old was eager to take part in the tournament and would have potentially been selected since fast bowler Naseem Shah was ruled out with a shoulder injury.
Ultimately, Pakistan failed to make it to the semi-finals and Ihsanullah was left to rue the fact that he got injured at the wrong time.
“Missing the World Cup due to surgery was painful, I was disturbed but I told myself that injuries are part of the game,” he told Geo News.
Ihsanullah also missed Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia and the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which the men in green lost 3-0 and 4-1 respectively.
The Matta native was expected to return for the Multan Sultans in the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but he ended up being ruled out of the competition before it started.
