Iftikhar Ahmed: “Sometimes things don’t go well in a match. But I also have to take responsibility if the team loses. I think the whole team has to take responsibility for a loss rather than just blaming Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam”

Pakistan big-hitter Iftikhar Ahmed believes it is unfair to always blame batsmen Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan when the men in green lose a match.
Azam and Rizwan often find themselves in the firing line since people expect them to score runs in every game.
However, when they fail to do so or find themselves in a rough patch, just like Azam is in right now, their critics are very vocal and place all the team’s problems entirely on their shoulders.
Iftikhar feels this is totally wrong as those who are failing to meet expectations should take responsibility and put in the hard work to better themselves.
“Sometimes things don’t go well in a match. But I also have to take responsibility if the team loses. I think the whole team has to take responsibility for a loss rather than just blaming Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam and Rizwan recently played in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia and five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Currently, Azam is captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), while Rizwan is leading the Multan Sultans and is teammates with Iftikhar.
