Pakistan T20I captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said fast bowler Abbas Afridi’s “bowling is already good” and added that he has the potential to become an all-rounder.
Abbas recently made his international debut in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and took five wickets in three games at an average of 16.20 and an economy rate of nine.
He also made 23 runs, which included a top score of 15 not out, at an average of 11.50 and a strike-rate of 176.92.
Aside from his bowling and batting, Shaheen also praised the 22-year-old for his superb fielding skills.
“Abbas Afridi is a very good fielder and a batsman. His bowling is already good,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Shaheen will now captain the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), while Abbas will play for the Multan Sultans.
PSL 9 will be held from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
