Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes aggressive opening batsman Saim Ayub can “perform consistently” for the men in green.
Ayub recently made his Test debut in the three-match series against Australia and made scores of 0 and 33 in the third Test in Sydney.
Misbah was particularly impressed with the 21-year-old’s second innings performance as he took the attack to the Australian bowlers and showed just how deadly he can be.
“He displayed excellent temperament, attacking the Australian bowlers during his brief innings. It seems he can assert dominance over the opposition and perform consistently for Pakistan,” he said in a video on his Facebook account as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Following the Australia tour, Ayub featured in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and amassed 39 runs in four games at an average of 9.75 and a strike-rate of 130.
He will now play for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which gets underway on February 17.
