Well-known cricket commentator Simon Doull said not many people will argue about Pakistan captain Babar Azam being the best player in the world right now.

Azam has established himself as an elite performer in all three formats with strong performances on a consistent basis.

Recently, he featured in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka and scored 271 runs, which included a century and two fifties, at an average of 67.75.

He followed that up with 222 runs in three ODIs against the Netherlands, which included three fifties, at an average of 74.

“Not many could argue that Babar Azam is the best player in the world at the moment,” Doull was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam is now leading Pakistan in the Asia Cup, where he has mustered 33 runs in four matches at an average of 8.25 and a strike-rate of 117.85.

Pakistan will play Sri Lanka on Friday and once again in the final on Sunday.
