Veteran Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz said fellow fast bowler Haris Rauf “has come in and is performing well”.
Wahab’s comments come after Rauf was in good form in the recently-concluded edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Rauf, who is capable of bowling faster than 150 kph, played for the Lahore Qalandars and took 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 34.20 and an economy rate of 9.67.
Wahab, meanwhile, captained the Peshawar Zalmi and claimed 18 wickets in 12 games at an average of 23.44 and an economy rate of 8.97.
“No other player can take what is meant for me – Haris Rauf has come in and is performing well but then every cricketer has good and bad days but that doesn’t mean we should sideline them and say that they can’t offer anything,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Rauf has been included in Pakistan’s Test, ODI and T20 squads for the tours of England and the West Indies, while Wahab wasn’t picked.
Pakistan will play three ODIs and three T20 Internationals against England. The ODI series will begin on July 8 and conclude on July 13, while the T20 series will be held from July 16 to 20.
The tour of the West Indies will consist of five T20 Internationals and two Tests, with the T20 series getting underway on July 27 and ending on August 3.
As for the Test series, it will start on August 12 and conclude on August 24.
