What mistake has he made, Akmal on Pakistan player dropped after not being given a chance

Kamran Akmal asked what mistake Kamran Ghulam has made after he was dropped for Pakistan's tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe

Kamran Akmal: “What is Kamran Ghulam’s fault? Selectors say they have made a team based on domestic performances. If Kamran doesn’t feature in your top 20 players, then who will?”

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has questioned what mistake Kamran Ghulam has made after he was dropped for the tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Ghulam was in scorching hot form in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he created history for scoring the most runs in a single edition of the tournament.

The 25-year-old accumulated 1,249 runs in 11 matches for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which includes five centuries and five fifties, at an average of 62.45.

He even made scores of 76 and 108 in the final against Central Punjab, which ended as a tie.

As a result, he was called up to the Test team for Pakistan’s home series against South Africa in January to February.

However, he didn’t feature in both Tests and has now lost his place in the Pakistan team altogether.

Akmal was surprised to see Ghulam omitted, saying he deserved to be in the squad due to his outstanding domestic season.

“What is Kamran Ghulam’s fault? Selectors say they have made a team based on domestic performances. If Kamran doesn’t feature in your top 20 players, then who will?” Akmal said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

“The players they have selected leave their wicket once they face two bouncers. But Kamran is not part of the team despite scoring the most runs this season.”

Pakistan will play three ODIs and four T20 Internationals against South Africa before heading to Zimbabwe for two Tests and three T20 Internationals.

Pakistan will depart for South Africa on March 26 and the tour will commence on April 2 and conclude on April 16. The ODI series will be played first.

The men in green will then head to Zimbabwe on April 17, but the dates for the matches have yet to be confirmed.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) noted that the national team will travel back to Lahore from Bulawayo on May 12.
