Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has heaped praise on left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi, saying he is “consistently improving”.
Afridi has become the spearhead of Pakistan’s pace attack and is expected to play a major role during the upcoming series against England.
Pakistan are scheduled to play three Tests and three T20 Internationals against England, with the first Test starting on August 5 and the T20 series beginning on August 28.
In addition to lauding Afridi, Yousuf has also been impressed with teenage pace sensation Naseem Shah.
Naseem, 17, holds the record of being the second-youngest bowler to take a five-for and the youngest to claim a hat-trick in Test cricket.
“Shaheen [Afridi] is consistently improving, while Naseem Shah, despite being young, has started his career on a high,” Yousuf told Cricket Pakistan. “Shaheen and Naseem can both hit the 150 kph mark, which would come in handy. (Mohammad) Abbas is slightly on the slower side but he makes the ball talk through his immaculate line and length.”
