Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif sees a bleak future in store for the national team, as he thinks they will slip down the rankings in Twenty20 Internationals, just like they have in ODI and Test cricket.

Pakistan are currently the top-ranked Twenty20 team in the world, but were recently whitewashed 3-0 by a second-string Sri Lanka side in Lahore.

They are in sixth place in the ODI rankings and seventh in the Test standings.

With the World Twenty20 coming up next year, Latif sees Pakistan falling “to new lows”.

“Pakistan is badly struggling in ODIs and Test matches, and their ICC ranking in both formats is very low,” he told The Nation.  “Pakistan will suffer in T20s as well and like Test and ODIs, their ICC ranking may fall sharply. Although for now they are the top-ranked team in T20 [cricket], next year’s World T20 is not so far and I fear they may fall to new lows. I don’t see Pakistan [rising] unless bold decisions are made.”
