Mickey Arthur did not have his contract as head coach extended because the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were upset with the fact he picked unfit players in the World Cup squad, according to sources.
As reported by cricketpakistan.com.pk, the board’s CEO Wasim Khan was less than impressed with the fitness levels of captain Sarfraz Ahmed and a number of other players selected in Pakistan’s team for the World Cup, and vented his frustrations during the 55th Board of Governors meeting in Lahore on Friday.
Wasim is also believed to have said that Arthur selected players for the tournament despite being fully aware of the fact that they did not adhere to the fitness standards set.
This is understood to have been one of the major reasons why Arthur was not retained as Pakistan’s head coach.
