The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are likely to appoint batsman Babar Azam, all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez or spinner Imad Wasim as ODI captain, according to a source.

The PCB’s Cricket Committee is likely to make a decision during their meeting at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on August 2.

There has been a lot of speculation about Sarfraz’s future following Pakistan’s failure to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals, with some reports indicating that he will be stripped of the captaincy entirely, while others state that he will lead Pakistan in fewer formats.

However, the source said that the PCB are leaning towards having someone else lead the ODI team.

“Assigning the ODI captaincy to anyone from Mohammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim and Babar Azam will be discussed in the meeting,” the source told APP as quoted by cricketpakistan.com.pk.

The Cricket Committee is chaired by the boatd’s managing director Wasim Khan, while its members include Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, Urooj Mumtaz, Zakir Khan, the director of international cricket and committee secretary, Mudassar Nazar, the director of academies, and Haroon Rashid, the director of domestic cricket.
