Mickey Arthur firmly believes that Pakistan batsman Babar Azam could potentially become the best player in the world.
Arthur’s comments come after Azam was Pakistan’s standout batsman at the World Cup, where he accumulated 474 runs in eight matches, which included a century and three fifties, at an average of 67.71.
With Azam having played crucial knock in many of Pakistan’s matches at the tournament, Arthur, whose contract as head coach expired after the World Cup, branded him as a “match-winner” and feels that he has a very bright future ahead of him.
“He’s an incredible player, he’s a match-winner,” Arthur told The Cricket Paper. “You’ve seen that at the World Cup. My foremost memory in this tournament was the win over New Zealand and the partnership of Babar Azam and Haris Sohail. I thought it was incredible.
“He’s an unbelievable player. Potentially, he’s the best player in the world – he has everything. I’ve been saying that for quite some time.”
