Former Pakistan captain Intikhab Alam believes that opener Fakhar Zaman “completely failed” to live up to expectations at the World Cup.
Zaman only scored 186 runs in eight matches, which included a half-century, at an average of 23.25.
Intikhab noted that with Pakistan having removed opening batsman Abid Ali from their World Cup squad prior to the tournament, there was no replacement for Zaman.
“Fakhar Zaman completely failed in the mega event but since prolific Abid Ali was not in the team, no replacement opener could come in the side,” Intikhab told Dawn.
