Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur firmly believes that left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi can become the best fast bowler in the world.
Arthur’s comments come after Afridi finished with figures of 6-35 off 9.1 overs in Pakistan’s 94-run win over Bangladesh in their World Cup clash at Lord’s on Friday.
The 19-year-old not only became the youngest bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a World Cup match, but he also registered the best figures by a Pakistan player in a World Cup game.
Afridi only featured in five matches for Pakistan in this World Cup, but he caught fire after a slow start and ended up taking 16 wickets at a superb average of 14.62.
“I have seen the progress of Starc,” Arthur, who used to be Australia’s head coach, was quoted as saying by The News International. “Shaheen can be better than all those who are in the business, because he has that will and talent.”
