Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has revealed that since he took charge of the national team in May 2016, more emphasis has been placed on fielding, fitness and the players’ diets.
Many people have noticed Pakistan’s drastic improvement in the field and fitness has become one of the key aspects to getting into the national team.
Fitness played a crucial role in selecting the World Cup team as players had to adhere to a benchmark set by Arthur and the other coaching staff.
Arthur added that all the players are also much more aware of what they are eating.
“There have been so many highs and lows,” Arthur told Geo.tv. “I will start from the change in culture. Certainly, there hasn’t been any comfort zone, the fitness and fielding culture has changed a lot. Guys are totally more aware on their diet. I think we’ve changed the team a lot.”
Pakistan are currently playing at the World Cup and will have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday and hope that New Zealand beat England on Wednesday as that will secure them a spot in the semi-finals.
