Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur is hoping to have his contract extended after the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales.

Arthur was named Pakistan’s head coach in May 2016 and his contract will expire after the tournament.

However, with Pakistan currently fighting for a spot in the semi-finals, Arthur admitted that he would be over the moon if he were to have his tenure extended.

“I’d love to continue with PCB, there’s no secret as I have said it a million times,” he told Geo.tv. “I think there’s going to be a review (after the World Cup). I think there’s been some really good work done over [the] time. Yes, we had some disappointing times and it comes and goes with cricket. But, I think if it does not happen it will disappointing, but we can look back at the three years knowing we’ve made a significant contribution to Pakistan cricket.”

Pakistan now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday and hope that New Zealand beat England on Wednesday as that will secure them a spot in the World Cup semi-finals.
