Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed thanked the fans for their support after the national team defeated Afghanistan by three wickets in a thrilling encounter at Headingley on Saturday.

Pakistan were reeling at one point and looking as if they were heading towards a big loss, but spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim rescued the men in green as he struck an unbeaten 49, which came off 54 balls and included five boundaries.

Thanks to Imad’s efforts, Pakistan won the match and kept their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals alive.

Following the match, Sarfraz expressed his gratitude to all the fans, saying that he appreciates all the support and love they have shown the team throughout the tournament.

“Thanks to all the crowd as they cheered for us all through our stay in England,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

With Pakistan having defeated Afghanistan, they will now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday to have any chance of reaching the last four.
