Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed lavished praise on spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim after he struck an unbeaten 49 to lead the team to a thrilling three-wicket win over Afghanistan at Headingley on Saturday.
Imad’s game-winning 49 came off 54 balls and included five boundaries. He also took two wickets prior to that.
Pakistan’s win saw them keep their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals alive.
“This is a great win for us and it wasn’t an easy pitch to bat on, but credit goes to Imad in the way he batted and handled the pressure,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
With Pakistan having defeated Afghanistan, they will now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday to have any chance of reaching the last four.
