Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed firmly believes that left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi is “improving day by day”.
Sarfraz’s comments come after Afridi finished with figures of 4-47 off his 10 overs in Pakistan’s nail-biting three-wicket win over Afghanistan on Saturday.
The 19-year-old made history in the match as he broke the record for the best bowling figures by a teenager in a World Cup match.
Afridi has taken 10 wickets in four World Cup games at an average of 19.90.
“We all know that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a good bowler and he is improving day by day, and is working very hard; [he] bowled really well today,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
With Pakistan having defeated Afghanistan, they will now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday to have any chance of reaching the last four.
