Former Australia skipper Michael Clarke said he can’t comment on whether Pakistan should remove Sarfraz Ahmed as captain.
Clarke’s thoughts on the situation come after reports have been rife that Sarfraz will be stripped of the captaincy due to Pakistan’s disastrous World Cup campaign.
Pakistan lost to arch-rivals India by 89 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in their World Cup clash on Sunday.
India’s victory extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan as they have now won all seven of their meetings against their arch-rivals in the World Cup.
To make matters worse, Pakistan have now only won one of the five World Cup games they have played.
“I don’t follow Pakistan cricket close enough to be in a position to answer that question,” Clarke told India Today. “As a captain when your team loses you’re always accountable. But I don’t know if they have got somebody else to replace him.”
Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
