Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed will “lose his job” if the national team continue to struggle in the World Cup.

Harbhajan’s comments come after Pakistan lost to arch-rivals India by 89 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in their World Cup clash on Sunday.

India’s victory extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan as they have now won all seven of their meetings against their arch-rivals in the World Cup.

To make matters worse, Pakistan have now only won one of the five World Cup games they have played.

With the men in green’s hopes of reaching the World Cup semi-finals in real danger, Harbhajan noted that Sarfraz will be made the shoulder the responsibility if Pakistan fail to turn their campaign around in their last four group stage matches.

“I hope they start winning from here onwards. But, if they don’t get forward and don’t get into the semis…I know the emotions with India and Pakistan, I think he’ll lose his job. That’s what happens in India and Pakistan, when you lose a couple of guys have to go,” Harbhajan told India Today.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
