Former Pakistan pace bowler Sarfraz Nawaz believes that the national team can still qualify for the semi-finals at the World Cup, but “they need to play aggressively”.
Pakistan have endured a disappointing start to their World Cup campaign as they lost to the West Indies by seven wickets in their opening match.
In their most recent match, they fell to Australia by 41 runs.
Despite gaining only three points from four matches, Sarfraz believes there is still hope for the national team to reach the semi-finals.
“Now bold and timely decisions are required as they need to make things simple and select [their] playing XI as per [their] opponents’ strengths and weaknesses,” Sarfraz told The Nation. “I think the Pakistan team still has a chance of progressing to the semi-finals but for this, they need to play aggressively.”
Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against arch-rivals India in Manchester on Sunday.
