Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram believes the national team’s key to success against Australia will be ensuring they have wickets in hand when batting.

Akram noted that since Australia have a strong bowling line-up, Pakistan will have to get runs on the board, but also avoid losing too many wickets early on, in the middle of and at the end of the innings.

Should Pakistan amass a competitive total, Akram is confident that their bowlers will be able to defend it.

“Pakistan’s success will be if they have wickets in hand. The bowlers will defend totals,” he told Geo.tv.

Pakistan’s World Cup match against Australia will be held in Taunton on Wednesday.
