India spinner Harbhajan Singh has predicted that the national team will beat Pakistan in their upcoming World Cup clash.
India will play their arch-rivals on June 16 in Manchester, and they will be looking to extend their winning streak over the men in green.
India have triumphed in all six of their World Cup meetings against Pakistan.
However, India were demolished by 180 runs when they took on Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final in 2017.
Despite this, Harbhajan feels that India can beat the current Pakistan team “nine times out of 10”.
“India versus Pakistan is not as big as India against England. Maybe from the media perspective, India versus Pakistan is more hyped up. But from a cricketing aspect, India versus England is more important. India can beat this Pakistan team nine times out of 10,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.
“India have 11 match-winners and I don’t think Pakistan have the ability to beat this Indian team. We are more experienced and we have a lot of big players.”
However, even though he is confident India will beat Pakistan, he admitted that the national team shouldn’t underestimate the men in green, who are currently on an 11-game losing streak, which is their longest in ODI history.
“India will be under pressure. They will have the fear of failure against a weaker team. Pakistan have nothing to lose. But if India lose, it will be huge,” he said.
