Misbah-ul-Haq: “For me, the three teams to qualify for the semis are England, India, Australia. The fourth team? I don’t know honestly”

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes that there is a possibility the national team won’t qualify for the semi-finals at the World Cup.

Pakistan were thrashed in their World Cup opener against the West Indies, where they were skittled out for 105 after being put in to bat first.

Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were the top scorers as they both made 22 runs, while Wahab Riaz chipped in with a quickfire 18 at the end.

Mohammad Hafeez was the only other batsman to reach double figures as he made 16.

Chasing just 106 to win, the West Indies cruised to a seven-wicket win with 218 balls to spare.

Misbah believes that India, England and Australia will reach the last four, but admitted that any other side can claim the last spot.

“For me, the three teams to qualify for the semis are England, India, Australia. The fourth team? I don’t know honestly. It could be any team because there is not much difference between them,” he told the Gulf Times.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against hosts England in Nottingham on Monday.
