Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has revealed that his side will draw inspiration from the team’s Champions Trophy triumph in 2017 during the World Cup.

Pakistan have struggled in ODIs this year as they were beaten 3-2 by South Africa and whitewashed 5-0 by Australia in the United Arab Emirates.

In their most recent ODI series against England, the men in green were crushed 4-0.

However, with the men in green kicking off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on Friday, Sarfraz is confident that his side will start with a bang.

“We will seek inspiration from our Champions Trophy win because then also we were losing and then lifted ourselves at the right time to win the trophy,” Sarfraz told AFP. “The boys are motivated and are eager to put these losses behind them and by playing in England for a month we are well prepared and you will hopefully see us doing well.”
