Pakistan will host the Asia Cup in September 2020

Pakistan will host the next edition of the Asia Cup, which will take place in September 2020.

Pakistan were awarded the rights to host the tournament by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Nazmul Hasan last December.

Since next year’s Asia Cup will precede the World Twenty20, all the matches in the competition will be Twenty20 Internationals.

“The next Asia Cup will be hosted by Pakistan, and the hosting right belongs to them,” Hasan was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.

However, with the Asia Cup being held in Pakistan, it is unlikely that India will travel to the country.

However, it has been confirmed that the tournament will be shifted to a neutral venue if political relations between India and Pakistan remain frosty.

Meanwhile, the ACC also expressed its commitment to ensuring cricket is among the sports played at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The decision to include cricket at the 2022 Asian Games was made during the Olympic Council of Asia’s General Assembly in Bangkok in March last year.
