Pakistan batsman Umar Amin believes that the national team are capable of reaching the semi-finals at the World Cup, which begins in England and Wales on May 30.
Pakistan have struggled in ODIs this year as they were beaten 3-2 by South Africa before being whitewashed 5-0 by Australia.
They have also lost their ongoing five-match ODI series against England as they trail 3-0 going into the final match.
Despite this, Pakistan can take confidence from the fact that they won the Champions Trophy in England in 2017.
“Pakistan, along with India, England and Australia, can qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup,” Amin told Geo.tv. “Hopes are high, [the batsmen are] doing very good and scoring consistently which is a major boost.
“It’s a good sign that our batting is meeting the international requirement of scoring 350. Consecutive scores are good before the World Cup, it’s a good sign and I hope it will be good.”
After the ongoing five-match ODI series against England, Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.
They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
