The rain had the last laugh as the first ODI was abandoned

The first ODI between Scotland and Sri Lanka in Edinburgh was abandoned without a toss even taking place due to persistent rain.

After waiting five hours, during which the rain stopped and started continuously, the umpires informed both captains that the match would be called off.

With the first match having been washed out, the second ODI on Tuesday will become a series decider.

However, the weather for Tuesday is bleak as more rain is forecast.
