Pakistan batsman Umar Amin has admitted that the bowling attack needs to be “mentally tough and execute plans properly” in order to be successful at the World Cup.
Amin’s comments come after Pakistan’s dismal bowling performances in the ongoing ODI series against England.
Pakistan let England score 373/3 in the second ODI, failed to defend 358 in the third ODI and also couldn’t defend 340 in the fourth match on Friday.
“[The bowlers] have struggled, but I am sure they’ll bounce back. Everyone wants the Pakistan team to do well and the players will surely give their best,” Amin told Geo.tv. “Skillful bowlers can do well here, you need to be mentally tough and execute plans properly, then we can win comfortably.”
After the ongoing five-match ODI series against England, Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.
They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
