Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali believes that the national team are capable of winning the World Cup, which will begin in England and Wales on May 30.

Pakistan have struggled in ODIs this year, as they were beaten 3-2 by South Africa before being whitewashed 5-0 by Australia.

However, the men in green can draw confidence from the fact that they won the Champions Trophy in 2017, which was also held in England.

Azhar added that Pakistan will be well accustomed to the conditions going into the World Cup as they are currently playing a five-match ODI series against England.

“We always enjoy playing in England and have played a lot of cricket in England in the recent past. These five ODIs will help us as well. I’m looking forward to the summer, hopefully we can lift the cup,” Azhar told the International Cricket Council’s website.

“Wherever you’re playing, if you have information and experience of playing in the conditions. It will benefit Pakistan a lot. But all ten teams have potential to win games and we’ll have to see what kind of capability they have.”

Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
