Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali has admitted it is “annoying” that the national team are “unpredictable” when it comes to international cricket.
With the World Cup starting on May 30, Pakistan have not been in the best of form in ODIs this year as they lost 3-2 to South Africa and were most recently whitewashed 5-0 by Australia.
Pakistan are currently playing a five-match ODI series against England, but the first match was washed out due to persistent rain.
Despite their poor form in the 50-over format this year, it should be noted that during the Champions Trophy in 2017, Pakistan bounced back from a heavy loss to India in the group stage and went on to win the tournament.
“It’s annoying for us to keep being unpredictable, but it’s true,” Azhar told the International Cricket Council’s website. “We know we can bounce back from anywhere and that makes us dangerous. We have done well in World Cups, even though no-one rates us that highly in the build-up. We always produce good performances so hopefully this will be a special one.”
Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
