Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has admitted that left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir can make it to the finalised World Cup squad.

When Pakistan announced their World Cup squad last week, Amir was not among the 15 players chosen.

This was likely due to his dismal form in ODIs since the conclusion of the Champions Trophy in June 2017.

Since then until now, Amir has taken five wickets in 14 matches at an average of 92.60.

However, the 27-year-old was included in Pakistan’s squad for the limited overs series against England, which will consist of a one-off Twenty20 International and five ODIs, and run from May 5 to 19.

Should he do well in the series, there is a chance he could be added to the World Cup squad as Pakistan are allowed to make changes to it without permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) until May 23.

“Amir’s running well, his attitude has been outstanding and he’ll have opportunities in England to show us that he deserves a spot in the World Cup squad,” Arthur was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
