Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed believes that wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and opener Abid Ali are both capable of becoming “world-class batsmen”.
Mushtaq’s comments come after the duo excelled during the recent ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.
Rizwan scored 231 runs in five matches, which included two centuries, at an average of 57.75.
As for Abid, he made his international debut in the fourth ODI and scored a sensational 112. However, even though he was dismissed for a golden duck in the fifth ODI, he still finished with an average of 56.
“I watched very closely the batting performance of upcoming opener Abid Ali and Mohammad Rizwan,” Mushtaq was quoted as saying by Dawn. “The way they played against Australia showed they have talent and temperament and both these skills are necessary to become world-class batsmen.”
